Area Information

Bramhall

Bramhall is a historic Cheshire village, offering fantastic amenities and facilities in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The name of the village dates from the 11th century, and comes from the old English words 'brom' meaning broom and 'halh' meaning secret place, generally near water. This historic village combines the contemporary and the traditional to create the ideal base for almost any requirements.

With Manchester City Center and the beautiful Cheshire countryside both easily accessible from the village, Bramhall offers a balance of the best of urban and rural life. The village benefits from the close proximity of Manchester International Airport, at only 6 miles away, as well as the convenience of the M60 and M6 motorways nearby. Regular train services throughout the north and beyond mean that the village is an ideal base for travel

Convenient commuting to both London, in less than two and a half hours, and to Manchester in 25 minutes, makes Bramhall ideally situated for travel into work. Bramhall benefits from a high standard of schooling, a crucial factor for families moving into the area. Primary schools including Ladybrook Primary School, Nevill Road, Pownall Green, Queensgate and Moss Hey all have superb reputations, and many boast ‘outstanding’ Ofsted reports. Local secondary school Bramhall High enjoys a very good reputation, with nearby Stockport Grammar achieving consistent academic and sporting success. Bramhall has a number of vibrant bars, restaurants and cafes, perfect for a drink with friends or a meal with family.

Bramhall Village’s square also offers local independent boutiques, hairdressers and beauty salons. The village’s oldest and most notable landmark, Bramhall Hall, is a fascinating Tudor mansion, with aspects dating back to the 14th century. It stands at the centre of Bramhall Park and is surrounded by acres of gardens, walks, lakes and woodland. Nearby golf courses, cricket club and tennis clubs offer fantastic facilities and beautiful surroundings.

Only slightly further afield, Stockport town centre offers a cinema, bowling complex and leisure centre. Bramhall has a wide variety of properties from large period detached residences to contemporary apartments catering for anyone who wishes to move to the area. It is ideal for a family home, a commuter base or a smaller first property. A variety of budgets and requirements are easily catered for, and the area will not disappoint, whatever your taste.

Bramhall offers a fantastic balance of convenience and tranquillity. The village is large enough to attract great amenities and facilities, yet preserves a friendly village feel. Bramhall has a population of approximately 25,500; however, it retains a strong sense of community. Research by the University of Sheffield has named Bramhall the ‘least lonely’ place in Britain. Come and find out why!
