Double award win and 50 year celebration for Cheshire estate agency

Wilmslow based Gascoigne Halman was a double award winner at estate agency’s biggest annual event of the year, the EA Masters Awards in London.

Confirming its position as one of the country’s leading estate agencies, Gascoigne Halman won the national award for Best Sales and Lettings Large for firms with over 21 branches.  Beating competition from across the UK, the award reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to excellence.

John Halman, executive chairman of Gascoigne Halman received a standing ovation from over 1,000 industry peers as he collected a Lifetime Achievement award in recognition of his 50 years in estate agency at the event.

Peter Higham, managing director of Gascoigne Halman comments: “John is a hugely respected and admired member of the property community and it was superb to see his half century celebrated by the industry.  John’s passion for property has never wavered and has seen Gascoigne Halman grow from a single office in Wilmslow in 1989 to 22 offices and over 200 staff today.  His dedication to outstanding service and innovation is hugely inspirational to our team and winning the Best Sales and Lettings award is testament the impact this has on the business.”

John Halman entered estate agency in 1973 and, demonstrating a natural flair for property sales, swiftly reached partner level before deciding to launch his own estate agency – Gascoigne Halman - in 1989.  The business grew throughout the 1990s ending that decade with 14 offices. The estate agency was acquired by Connells in 2015 but John remains very much at the helm of the operation commenting that: “when you name is above the door, you can never really walk away.”  Today, the company boasts a thriving network of offices with expertise across sales, lettings and mortgages.

Developing client and staff relationships has been the cornerstone Gascoigne Halman’s success with a theme of continual professional development running throughout the agency. Client satisfaction, monitored on a monthly basis, is so high - typically 98% and often 100%- that John often jokes the figures look made up!

John’s philanthropic approach to business has seen the agency raise just short of £100,000 for charities over the years including the David Lewis Centre, The Christie Hospital, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity and three local hospices.
